Lily Raina studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Maastricht, Holland. She exhibited her paintings for the first time in Delhi in 1993 at the Lalit Kala Akademi. This collection on view is titled "Widows of Vrindavan", technique involved in these works is an art form dating back to the 17th century and is called Metal Point on Paper. Her drawings are rich in details with fine lines and light grey tones lending poignancy to them. The Vidhwa Care Charitable Foundation is a registered Society founded in June this year by Lily Raina. The Foundation aims to provide permanent housing for more than fifteen hundred widows abandoned in the by-lanes of the small towns of Brajbhumi, around Mathura, Lord Krishna's birth place, the Foundation will also train them in skills and help them to become socially and financially independent members of the society. This show is a stepping-stone to establish the Foundation. Half of the sale proceeds will go towards the cause.
